Remember that you do have to pay tax on all items that you purchase when your items arrive in Australia and you will need reciepts including a copy of reciept for yourself and a copy for the shipping company.
I'm not sure about sending the lollies in the container, I know I would not do this. If your friend who is sharing container with you is buying furniture and wooden items then they will be fumigated and the containers become very smelly with strong fumes as well as being very hot inside.
