Love the Padma, Love Legian / seminyak. Fantastic shopping and great restaurants everywhere.
The thing is, I also really don't liike Tubam so that makes me a bit biased. The breakfast at the Padma is beyond yum - try the fruit salad and yoghurt as it is all real as opposed to the sad stuff you get at other places. Happy hr drinks up on the grassy verge in front of the Bella Rosa restaurant are a real favourite.
I have visited the Kartika and thought it was nice but the rooms are smaller and the bathroom was not a patch on even the standard Padma hotel wing room.
The only thing that the Padma dors not have is a view of the ocean from the pool - big deal - you can't have everything.
