Touring with a tour company can be very restricting.I did formal tours on my first trip to Bali and found I wanted to stay longer in some places and less time at others.
Works out more expensive too when you each pay a fare.
I have always booked a driver since.
You just pay a set pre negotiated price and since petrol prices have risen and you are wanting to cover many kilometres over 8 hours or so, possibly a minumum of 400,000rp would be appropriate, probably more if you are happy with the driver, vehicle etc.
I like a win win partnership!
