to pay for a room for your "Bali son". He is not a guide and therefore will be considered a fellow tourist. If you go by yourself you will find your own way around easily enough.
In Candi Dasa there is a nice smaller style place owned by an Australian woman named Shirley. It is absolute beach front with very few stairs. It is very clean and quite cheap.
It is named Temple Cafe and Seaside Cottages.

While in Candi Dasa try Vincents Restaurant
In Amed, have a look at Divers Cafe Bungalows, this has a pool right beside the beach and has very few stairs.

In Amed there is a great restaurant named Sails. There are a mumber of stairs but the view and the quality of the food easily make up for this. Go into the kitchen and have a look, it is one of the cleanest in Bali.
