I take cash only for everyday daily use. I have my credit card with me for the extra special unplanned purchase (like jewellery lol) where I don't have the cash with me, and always use it to finalise our bill on departure.
I never bother with travellers cheques because it means having to take the passport to cash and then return the passport to the safe deposit box or in room safe if you don't want to walk around with it.
Only tip is .. have a great time and enjoy the company of the friendly balinese people and the beautiful island !!
