Couple of questions please

Hi there.
My family and I are going to Bali next month after the last trip of 15 years ago, and I cant wait!!!
I just wanted to know whether I need an electrical attachment for the hairdryer/shaver etc, or will they plug straight in?
Also, I was planning to use the credit card a bit - not the pin, but by signing for each transaction. I'm a bit waorried now that it may not be safe after what I've read? Would travellers cheques and cash be the best option? I believe the Dynasty has a safe in the room we can stash it in, with the passports so it should be fine.
Any other tips for someone who hasnt been for such a long time?
