Re Zen Villas & Sanur flooding.
I am an owner of Zen Villas & was present at the time of the Sanur flooding. It is not true that sewerage leaked into the wet areas. The guests were temporarily re located to the Bali Hyatt ( at the owners' expense ) as a precautionary measure, as the power to the villas had to be turned off for safety reasons. There was no damage at all to the villas.
The problem was caused by the local Banja authority failing to turn on the large Genset pump located on the road side of the Nghura Rai bypass road. Because it was a public holiday period this took some time to locate the person responsible to get the Sanur pumps operating. Once this was done the water subsided quickly, & the guest were returned to Zen Villas.
I have always found that it is very dangerous to report as facts, something which you are relaying on second hand, & not as a direct self experienced fact.
Since this is the first time I have written to Bali Travel Forum, I would take the opportunity to respond to some earlier negative reports re pool fencing. I have travelled to Bali for over 6 years & styaed in so many different places I have lost count. But one thing I can say as a fact, is that none of these places had pool fencing. It is not a legal requirement in Bali, as it is in NZ or Oz. If you are staying at any place in Bali with a pool, & you have little ones. What do you think you should be doing?
