You need to remember that unlike Kuta, Ubud does not have as many hotels with Satelite TV. You may be able to get a TV set at the Tegal Sari or another hotel, but I would not bother unless you a desperate to see Indonesian Soapies.
Sorry for being sarcastic, but it will be hard to find a nice place in Ubud with Satelite TV for the price you are asking. One thing that you may want to try in Ubud to kill the hours at night is some of the traditional preformances. I went to a show which involved 100 men chanting which took place at a local Temple. It was absolutely amazing. Best thing is the money goes directly to the locals (plus for the price of 1 person going to the movies in Oz 2 people can go).
