As I see it you have a contract with the travel agent and they have broken it. OK it was an error but the contract is still broken.
We had a similar incident a few years ago with Flight Centre when they made an error on our return flight and the plane was full. Readers Digest version of events was... they were forced to buy an upgrade and brought us home business class.
You need to be firm with your agent and see if an upgrade at their cost is an option. Hopefully there are some seats available.
