If I'll be back again. As another poster said, bali is developing. Yeah, right. Pickpockets, con-men, scams, dodgy money changers, bag-grabbers, straight-out thieves and burglars, corrupt police, corrupt officials everywhere, persistent nuisance shopkeepers. And naturally they all come from Java or elsewhere.
So where are the Balinese and why do they put up with this situation? Draw your own conclusions.
As a traveller to Indonesia for many years I feel this trip to Bali will be my last. I'm just really P'd off with the hypocracy of a country that pupports to be the Island of the Gods, or the Island of Smiles, or the gentle people, that in reality is a tourist rip-off machine.
OK, it's cheap as - but that's not the point. The point is that the whole attitude in Bali is dishonest.
After this trip I'll stick to more reliable areas, like Singapore or Jakarta. At least they are honest about their venality
