and did not have to pay tax. It appears that the major difference is that Garuda used to allow you your surfboards seperate to your luggage weight, now they are included in your 20kg. If you are over your 20 kg you will get charged $35US for each 6 kilos you are over. Our 4 boards weighed in at 16.9 kilos, but we were over 3kgs. I did a little sweet talking, always fly Garuda etc etc and the guy let us through no charge but told us to be quiet as he had charged quite a lot of people on our flight. A small amount of rupiah changed hands after his offer.
