Unfortunately the crocs do let in the mud and/or sand on the beach. BUT they are so easy to wash even in a nearby stream. If you tend to do a lot of paddy field walking then maybe take some sneakers. I wore my Fake crocs the whole time in Bali last trip and we went looking at land for sale so yes trudging through the paddy fields, I was very careful to keep to the VERY narrow little tracks and managed ok. Have heard that once grit gets in to them as with any shoe they will chaff and blister so be careful of this. They are very easy to just slip off when entering homes or on the beach. Another bonus I found with them is they keep your toes safe...the footpaths aren't the best and I tripped so many times but luckily saved my toes. I was wearing the clog type crocs. There are many styles now and even a laceup pair so maybe that would be the way to go. They do have a website if you google for it. The shop in the Discovery Mall that sells the real ones do have all styles, the markets tend to sell only the fake clog type ones when we were there last.
