I notified my bank this time before I left. They recorded when I was leaving and returning to Australia. Last trip I didn't notify them. I used my card in Bali for 24 days without trouble - then when I got home it was frozen. "Lucky" for me, they'd identified my card was being used overseas and locked access... only 3 1/2 weeks too late! So I had no money when I got home (a Saturday) till the bank reopened on the Monday. I was less than impressed! I'd taken about $1500 out of the account over all that time so if it had been fraudulent use it was too late anyway!

But I can't fault my credit union too much as they still don't charge me for overseas ATM withdrawals - one of the few remaining ones left it seems.

There's ATMs pretty much everywhere. You won't have to go far from the Puri Raja to find one. There's three just down the road near the Loji supermarket - one next to the Loji and two on the opposite side of the road. The one next to Loji gives you an account balance on the receipt too, which is handy. But no matter which direction you head out of the hotel, there's ATMs not too far away - some inside mini marts and some just on the street in little air-con booths.
