Each of these three hotels which sit next door to each other quite clearly cater for guests with different tastes and different budgets. We just got back today from the Besakih after a two week stay and this was the third time we had stayed there. The Griya is a more up market Hotel than the budget Besakih and caters mainly to Europeans as does its sister Hotel The Puri Santrian. The Tadjung is even more upmarket than the Griya and from what we saw had a high number of Americans staying there. The Besakih however has the best location with good shady trees, the best view, and a pool that goes right down to the famous Sanur Path. The gardens are beautiful and well cared for, the staff are lovely and for us it is like going back home. The Besakih's customers are predominately Australian (around 90%) and a great many are regulars who go there on a yearly basis. Some comments have been made regarding the cleanliness of the Besakih's rooms and I am afraid I have to agree. We love the Besakih and I have said to my wife when you arrive it's like putting on a favourite pair of shoes but unfortunately these shoes which were once so comfortable now have holes in them and need some TLC. I do not go on Holidays to live in my room and I do not require a room that is oppulent but I do require some basics I expect the room to be clean, I expect the shower to provide hot water and sufficeint water pressure to get me wet without standing directly under it, and I do not expect to have the toilet system spray water up the wall. These are basic things and it would not take much to lift this hotel back to where we believe it should be however it remains to be seen if the current management structure has the ability and desire to rectify the problems. We will look on the forum with interest over the next few months on others who have stayed there and hopefully we will see some improvements . We have not thrown that old pair of shoes out just yet!
