We stayed there in March this year and were very happy with it. The location really isn't that far from the Besaki. We checked out the Besaki last year and we also thought the bathrooms were really grubby.
The Griya was lovely. We had room 140 which was excellent. As I don't have kids I'm prob not the right person to say if it was "child friendly".
I would think the Respati would have been the most child friendly in the older style villas as you have your own private garden area and it would be easier to keep your eye on them. The villas are also further away from the pool which would be a lot safer.
Enjoy Sanur, March was our first time there. It took a couple of days to get used to as it is totally different but now when we go back we will stay both at Legian and Sanur.
