The Mercure in Sanur is a big clean hotel,with two nice pool areas. However it is impersonal in the same way that many big hotels are. Luckily the beach area is nice and there are a number of good restaurants within a short distance.
Kesuma, Mama Putus, Cat&Fiddle, Trophy, Magos, Donalds, Bobbies,Cemara Beach, Stiff Chilli, Jepun, Massimos, Ming and Apa Kabar are all very good places to dine.(these are all within walking distance of the Mercure).
The Bali Senia is also a short stroll away, this is a good spot to watch sport. I was there from midnight until 4am this morning(thursday) watching the Aussies lose the cricket.
I realise that this does not fully answer your original question but it may give a bit of an idea of what is available in the area.
