dennisc you are well revered on the forum and your tubes may be in order.
When I went into Bali recently, I paid voa in Aud as always, was given a printout with rates/conversion etc and change in Rp. Rate was within reasonable distance of street rate. Not short changed and very above board.
Forget the advice on US and pay in local currency wherever you are coming from. We are talking $25 ffs.
