We were there the day after the 2nd bomb and saw the destruction and felt the lose of life. Felt the sadness of the Balinese people who pleaded with us to tell our friends on our return how wonderful Bali is. We also joined in the memorials on 12 Oct, my husband did paddle for peace, I made offerings to the sea, we joined in the ceremony at Ground Zero (we were staying at White Rose and couldn't get back into our hotel, so really had no choice). Even having seen what affect distasters like this can do to people in this beautiful place, we have no (great)concern taking our kids in August for the first time. Sure, as with any travel you do, you have to keep your wits about you, take certain precautions and most off all enjoy the experience as these are memories you'll have for a lifetime.
Ultimately, it has to be YOUR decision though as with everything in life, there is always a risk.
