Kuta Townhouses is modern and bright, and I wouldn't call it a "very" large complex (as compared to Padma for example). It is very western in style whereas Secret Garden is more traditional. There is modern furniture a lovely kitchen and and full size fridge at KTH.
The pool is sort of above ground, but it is overlooked by the restaurant/bar and is not that private, I have been there at all different times of the year and it is really not that busy, there are a lot of Sports bars around. Even AFL games rarely fill it and it is not a big Restaurant.
One of the downsides to Secret Garden, if I recall, is the foam (as opposed to inner spring) mattresses. That may have changed or only be certain rooms.
I think the pool area is nicer at SC but the rooms and bed nicer at KTH, my personal choice. If you like to spend alot of time around the pool I would go for SC. If you like a nice modern room for for KTH ;~)
