Its a lottery as there are so many other factors that come into play that you havent even thought about yet.
Will his family have financial demand on you in the future?
What about religion, will you become Hindu?
Will your family and friends accept him easily?
Its a mine field but you can find a way through it with enough mutual understanding.
As a quick test put three pieces of cake on a plate ,one for him ,one for you. If he offers you the third piece I guess you could consider going further (at snail speed).
