My daughter loves photography so Ive bought her an SLR camera for birthday/xmas gift at a great price and taking with me so I can claim TRS. Was a great idea at the time until I took the package off her at the car and I believed I visibly blanched - the weight of the thing, it must weigh at least 2kgs with its 2 large lenses, batteries, charger, leads and all the other stuff that goes with it. And here I had been scrimping on everything i was taking and mentally weighing each item so I could buy more over there!

Now I have a problem of the weight on the plane. Ive read through TRS notes on the forum and looked at the Tourist Refund Scheme website.

From what i have read is this right--- You take everything with you that you are claiming on the receipt with the exception of the packaging. I will not be using her camera so can I leave all the cords, booklets that tell you all about it at home? Can I leave the extra lens at home - they were in with the camera package.

Can I wear the camera on a bag around my neck on the way home? If they weigh my hand luggage do they weigh whats around your neck as well?

Can't wait to leave the floods up here and head to Sydney to fly out this Sunday - cant believe I may soon be hot and dry...
