This happens at so many places around indo. But then if you speak a little bit of Indonesian or Javanese to them, they'll let you in for the locals price. I always (and my work collegues) mention to the ticket sellers that this is unfair... of course they just smile :)
Sure, maybe the money goes towards helping out with the upkeep of the place... but 110 thousand (approx) to the indonesian price of 8 thousand is a joke... maybe 20,000 to 8,000 is more reasonable.
I love the city of Jogja, its just so much more laid back and easy going, compared to Jakarta where I live, (my soon to be hubby is from Jogja) and we actually stay at RUMAH MERTUA...hahah however its my real parents in law :)
Such a shame you didnt spend more time there, and visit a few other places... make sure you go back one day :)
