Hehehe... nope they arent of dutch descent.. However his dad is Ambonese, and they have all very "portuguese sounding names in the family" such as Dommingus, Maria, Theodora, etc etc...maybe its the influence of the portuguese back in the spice trading days. My fiancee's mother is origninally from Jogja.
I really cant comment on why they only sell beer and wine, maybe thats the only two types of alcohol they understand about. Anything else, maybe its too complicated? heheh who knows.. and if they are moslem its suprising they sell it at all, unless they realise its part of catering for tourists. However there is a very large catholic community in Jogja (partners family is catholic) so that wouldnt be a problem for them.
