(anaphylactic) ans has been to Bali 4 times, New Zealand, Thailand, Honk Kong, Singapore, Belize, USA, Honduras, Mexico, etc.... wouldn't dream of not travelling with her. You do just have to be very careful when it comes to food, medications, and any skincreams, etc. We have never (touch wood) had any problems overseas BUT I would most definately make sure that they get travel insurance with 'pre-existing medical condition' cover for the trip, just in case. We carry 2 epi-pens when we travel, antihistamine, pregnasone, along with a brief description of what she is allergic to in the local language/s(if you ask on here people are very helpful with translation to Bahasa Indonesia), the local ambulance/medical centre numbers, and all the details of her specialist in Australia. It's another part of the trip to have to plan & we were very nervous before taking her to Bali for the first time, but it was totally unfounded - safe food options are everywhere and the level of understanding in tourist areas is excellent. Hope this helps to allay your fears to some degree! Also, if you do a search under 'allergies' on this forum you'll get a load of info from various people in the same situation. Cheers, Sue.
