I, like most people, pay in Aus$ and get change in rupiah. No hassle, just hand over a AUS$50 and get your change, you then have some rupiah for taxi or your first bintang. Exchange rate not too bad. Why pay extra to get US$. Have a great holiday, Cheers, Stormy
