Darwin stopover - hotel recommendations?

Hi all, it looks like we'll be going to Bali via Darwin & due to the flight times we think we'll probably be staying a night or two there in either direction. So far my searches have failed to turn up an affordable hotel in Darwin and I'm just wondering if any Darwinites or anyone who's done this could recommend an affordable hotel in the city area, please. Aussie prices just seem so steep compared to Bali! Hahaha! Cheers, Sue.
