Hi there every one,

Incase you havent heard here is the new regulation when flying from Australia to overseas countries (and maybe domestic).
These new rules are needed to protect you from the threat of liquid explosives. They are in effect from 31 March 2007.

Each container of liquids, aerosols or gels in your carry-on baggage must be 100 millilitres or less. All the containers must be sealed in a transparent, one-litre plastic bag (20cm x 20cm). You are only allowed one plastic bag. Any transparent resealable bag of one litre capacity or less is allowed.

You may still carry on board prescription medicines. Baby products and non-prescription medicines that you need for the flight are also allowed. Proof of need may be required.

When you get to the screening point, you will have to surrender any liquids, aerosols or gels greater than 100ml that you still have with you, including duty free. The new rules also introduce random frisk searches as part of the screening process.

Please Note: These restrictions do not apply to checked-in baggage

These items are not allowed if they are over 100ml:
*Drinks - Any drinks in cans, bottles, plastic containers etc

*Liquid Cosmetics & toiletries - All cosmetics & toiletries in liquid / gel form for example fragrance or purfume, creams, liquid foundations & lip gloss, mascara, toothpaste, all products in pressurised containers eg: hairspray, shaving gel or foam, deodarants.

*Food - Any liquid based food products in packages, tubes, plastic or tin containers, for example jams & spreads, sauces, pastes, yoghurts, soups (cartons or otherwise) stews or curries.

Items allowed:
*Empty containers - Empty containers such as flasks or mugs.

*Cosmetics & Toiletries - Sanitary towels & tampons, talcum powder, contact lenses and also contact lenses solution.

*Food - Sandwiches, fruit, vegetables, other solid food.

*Baby Products - Empty containers such asempty bottles, beakers or flasks, baby milk, sterilised baby water, baby juice, baby products in liquid, gel or paste form, baby food powder.

*Medicines - Essential prescribed medication, Essential non prescribed medication eg: cough syrup, insulin, medical devices.

Also when i worked at the airport, airlines are ment to give out plastic bags for free but they kept running out, so you might need to ask the airline a few days before you fly incase you need to go out and buy to supply your own bags.

So this is what has started now and when leaving Australia. Im not sure yet about when you are coming back to Australia but if you would like to know more go to the customs website for more information, the site is wwwDOTcustomsDOTgovDOTau (please replace the DOT with a real . ).

I hope this has helped you out on you next visit so you dont have to muck around.

Hayley
