The day after Neipy I went to see the market on Kuta beach, just as I got there the sky opened as it does in Bali. Spent half an hour sharing an umbrella with a Balinese family while little boys ran round with bits of Ogah ogah under their arms. I just had to see what was going on so with my hat jammed on my head and a bit of plastic wrap over my bag to protect my camera I paddled off. It seemed kids were breaking off bits of Ogah ogah to keep, they didnt care about the rain but I got cold so put a scarf over my shoulders. Then a lady called Hello. I saw a dry, dark haired lady under an umbrella, she must have seen a cross between a drowned rat and a bag lady. It was Strewth.
To the shopping now. I got a lot of costume jewlery this time, shell necklaces, broches, one is a poodle made with rubbies and diamonds, real of course. On the opposite side of Jl Legian is a shop that sells top quality wool jumpers, hats, scarves, gloves etc. I got a poncho Rp 150,000.
My son collects car number plates so I had one made with his birthdate on, a genuine Denpasar number plate. The Balinese man who made it thought it very odd that this peculiar touists woman want only one number plate, the look on his face was clasic.
The last day it just rained and rained, no last cocktail in the pool. Ah well it was good for shopping in Ramyana for a cute little Honda racing jacket from my grandson, another broach and after shave made specially for my husband called David the Man.
By take off at 10 am the next day the weather had cleared. Now it may be that I am losing my hearing or the fact that there were five under twos making noise around me on the plane but I swear the sweardess offered us beef or jelly fish for lunch, There was something with the salad the could have been jelly fish and I became more convinsed of this when the lady next to me started throwing up just as I had dozed off. You gotta laugh.
