of your posts. That was what I was trying to say. My husband was in a train smash and now suffers from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. The defining characteristic of PTSD is that your protective shell of 'it won't/can't happen to me' is ripped away. It CAN happen to you.

There is no fate decreeing what will happen to you. Saying 'when your time is up it's up' is just a form of denial. That's OK, denial is a useful mechanism but let's not extend that into a lazy silly belief in fate, especially as that can degenerate into complacency when faced with the suffering in this world. We don't have total control over our lives which is scary but still the human race is responsible for its actions, good and bad, and must be held accountable. Fate didn't kill those who died in the bombs, the bombers did and they could have chosen not to and to say otherwise - well now THAT's disrespectful.
