What a good desciptive story about an area not too many people see. I must take issue though with the DDT part. I have been involved with commercial horticulture in Bali for about 10 years and have had to use insecticides on a regular basis and have carefully studied what is available. I am absolutely sure no DDT is used or is available in any form - that family of chemicals has been banned for many years. It is much more likely that the common pinworm (itchy bum worm) found throughout the world is the cause of the nether problem and is easily stopped by a worm tablet and better hygiene.
