Hey Sophia,

There are no direct flights from the US to Bali. From other American reports I think you can fly through a variety of places, Guam, Taipei, Tokyo, Singapore. A very long flight especially as you are coming from the east coast. I couldn't tell you the best airlines, maybe eskimo girl is reading & can give you some tips.

THere are many budget style hotels but it depends if you want to party out in Kuta or Chill out in Legian or Seminyak. For US$15 per night you would get something fairly basic but clean. You'll need to be more specific with your needs so someone can give you a hotel name in the appropriate area.

Take US cash & credit cards, don't exchange until you get to Bali as you will get a better rate. Make sure your hotel has either safes in the rooms or safety deposit boxes for your money & passport etc.

As Filo said it doesn't matter if you are black, white or brindle in Bali. As long as you like a laugh, smile a lot & enjoy having a good time with people from all over the world, you will fit in easily. For comprehensive information, go to Filo's site & look at the lot not only the link he has supplied.

Hope that helps.

Mitch
