it is a lovely resort, a bit out of the way, you think you are in barren land before you get to it but the resort itself is very nice. We were in Club Oasis - a gathering of about 15 rooms by themselves with their own pool was very private and quiet but you could walk about 50 metres back past receiption to the main buildings and main pool if you wish.
No real hidden costs, there is a $5 per day surcharge, there is a breakfast on the Sunday morning that all "free" guests have to attend (there is a cost for this) but at this (at least when we were there) they have a raffle draw for prizes of massages, free week etc that you might be lucky enough to win. Of course they expect you to attend a short presentation, which for us was very informal and we ended up buy 10 years of timeshare for $2,500 and yearly maintenance, for this you get a week at Jimbaran Hills and the opportunity of 4 "Discovery Weeks" per year at $199US at about 40 odd resorts around the world - not a bad deal in all.
Rooms are very nice, large fridge, microwave, crockery etc and TV but no DVD player (you can hire one from reception), it might pay you to do a little shopping for brekkie items before you get there as there is not any shops within walking distance to buy these things, although they do have a small shop on the premises.
Food in the restaurant is fairly reasonable but drinks are expensive.
Julie the Manager is very nice.
They have a shuttle bus that takes you to various places on different days, Padang Padang on Sunday, Nusa Dua on Monday, Kuta on Wednesday, Legian on Thursday and so on which we used to go into town and then get a taxi back a couple of times.
We went down to Jimbaran Bay to the Bamboo Restaurant (recommended by the Guest Relations guy at the time) two days, arrived at about midday and spent the day on the beach and then had Seafood Dinner, was great. The first day we used a hotel car but then we realised that this was about twice the price of a bluebird taxi and reception will ring them for you if you insist or you can make your own arrangements with one of the hotel drivers privately as well.
All in all, even though we had misgivings at first because of the isolation, we really enjoyed our week at Jimbaran Hills and with the price of taxi's it didn't really matter anyway. Enjoy your time and have fun.
