It was 1984. My wife proposed to me in Panang... or so she says.

We were staying at the New China and would watch the afternoon rain
fall from the large floor to ceiling casement windows during the afternoon. When the deluge abated we would walk up to one of the ubiquitous restaurants.

It was at one of these that the proposal occurred. I had had one too many gin and tonics so I can't be sure what actually happened.

Never-the-less, and to get back on topic, we decided that the marriage ceremonies would take place in Bali.

This was in about October and we had been staying in Bali off and on since June.

We lived in legian Kaja (North), which was just a village at that time. The marriage ceremonies just grew and grew. it was a Hindu wedding, the local priest came to bless us (4 hours of ceremonies with both of us awash with holy water). Quite a scene.

Much more prose to describe what happened if anyone is interested.

So Kaizan, I can recommend not just a proposal but a Balinese wedding. And, we are still together over 20 years later.
