When i went to Bali in June 06 i took stuff over in my bag and sent Garuda a email. When i got to Perth airport it was on there computer and all okay. At customs i got through fine.
When i went in November 06 i put donations in striped bags in my actual cases and wasn't overweight anyway so didn't need to contact Garuda but when i got to Bali the customs guy wasn't very happy and asked if they where donations and i said yes. He said no good for Bali. Anyway i told him i wouldn't do it again. Ha Ha
So i suggest you put donations in your normal cases and put empty striped bags under it so you can still put it in these bags when you get to your hotel.
