Lets see 1983 I was there for 5 weeks on my own travelling around the island and Lombok. The entry for Maxi's was - 1,200rp entry fee which included a free drink. 1,600rp for every drink thereafter - what a ripoff. Heaps of nice guys here. Stayed until closing 12.30am then caught a bemo back to Ida's Bungalows. Paying 9,600rp a night the #!*#!** mozzies are free.
From that same year - weekly pushbike hire at Kuta was 6,000 at Sanur 11,000. 300rp for 7 bananas, 500rp a bag of salaks, 200rp bemo from Sanur to Denpasar.
I won't need to explain the Bali of old to my son as I have kept a diary of every trip and it is all there in black and white. Maybe I should burn them before I go he he.
