the old days. Why? Lots of reasons. I was younger, less cynical and probably had less expectations. Along with that I had less money, there were fewer tourists and life was just simple. The roads were wider and the shops were charming. I really knew I was in another country with a different culture to ours and I loved it.
Bali is still a great place to go, though I hate the big hotels and places like Discovery Plaza. They have no beauty, no class, just a concrete jungle eyesore.
Way back when, it used to be one trip a year for me and it felt like forever to get back there. Now its at least 3 times a year and sometimes I just dont feel like I appreciate what Bali has to offer, but I guess I don't go to experience what I did when I first travelled there 26 years ago.
There have been many other destinations in between but Bali still beckons and I now go to spend time with people who are a special in my life. cheers :-)
