There was a very breif period in 86 when the first so called Asian Crisis hit which resulted in most asian currencies tumbling dramatically and it saw the Rupiah get to Rp12,000 to the Aus$. I know because I packed a couple of Bali Virgins off from work that week to Bali and followed the value of the Rupiah on the T V news because it was big news at the time. When the Bali virgins returned, they reported that it was not worth bartering over anything!!!!!!
