38kgs over, then told to go to a small office to "negotiate" a discount... ended up being charged for 18kg @ US$16.00 per kilo... a whopping AUS$446.00 in excess. OUCH! will no better in October... taking lighter trolley bags rather than heavier suitcases and making sure our hand luggage is smaller so it can actually be carried as hand luggage and not checked. Ahh we live and learn.
