Hi Pauline
My son had major surgery in Bali in July, so have had to deal a lot with insurance to claim medical and related expenses.
First of all it is NOT too late - make sure a proper and correct medical report is obtained, and perhaps get some back up from your regular medical practitioner - ie a letter stating the patients health prior to to travelling to Bali.
Make sure your husband gets receipts where possible for any related expenses - phone, taxi, extra accomodation costs, meals (after actual departure date), laundry, toiletries, cost to change bookings, visa extension fees etc. Also get him to keep a log of expenses, as receipts will not be available for everything. Where possible pay for hotel, medical costs etc with credit cards - then you will have an itemised statement to provide to the insurer.
If the insurer trys to back out of paying your claim there is a Insurance Ombudsman who can help you out, but hopefully you won't need to do that.
Good luck!
Michele
