travellers chq - we don't. We pay for VOA in $AU and use the change for 1st drink etc. We take 2 credit cards and use the ATMs. As you head out of PS at the street end (near reception) turn right and there is an ATM maybe 50 steps up the street outside the record/DVD shop. Its in its own little glass booth. We've always drawn out around rp1 million each day and cards always worked.
Yes, travel light. Head to the beach exit at PS, turn left, and head to the Sindhu Beach Markets, and ask for Tootsies. Shes right up the end in the little alley of shops. Sit outside and wait patiently while your wife shops.
Meals in Sanur are cheap, also some of them are really gooood.
At the beach end of PS, turn right, and there is a little cluster of restaurants. Also, at the streets end of PS there are heaps as well. Our favs - Donalds for breakfast, Magos & Cat & Fiddle for lunch/tea/people watching.
Down at the Sanur Beach Hotel, the bar is a sweet little round thing on the beach with a soaring roof and swinging bamboo seats. Take your wife there one evening, maybe for pre or post dinner drinkies. Its really lovely, but pricey. We only drank there once for the ambience.
Can't help much with drinky poos, we only have a drink with tea.
There are heaps of drivers in PS just past reception. Walk up and introduce yourself. They really are a great group of guys. They will sort you with ideas for trips/cost etc. You have the added bonus that they are sort of connect to the Hotel, so if there were to be any sort of problem (which I'm sure there won't be) you can take it to reception.
Yes, you buy fake watches. When you are over at Kuta - just walk to the beach - stand on the sand & yell - I WANT A WATCH !!!
Make sure your wife is standing back with the camera :)
Enjoy
