Agree with Filo abd would add another area easy to walk and interesting. From the main markets (refuse to have a guide, not needed and get in the way) can walk East along Jln Gajahmada (lots of fabric shops, various banks etc, then turn left into Jln Veteran at a big roundabout with statue beside ornate Mayor's office building, this takes you past Inna Bali Hotel which was the first Bali hotel from Dutch times - still very pleasant to stay in and then both sides of Jln Veteran have variety of shops of all sorts with evrything at local prices and you will rarely see a tourist. A bit along on the left is a 2 storey market with full range of handicrafts at good prices because many other outlets buy there to resell, then on right is the Bird Market with hundreds of birds of all varieties. There are very good electronic shops on Jln Veteran too and good Chinese style restaurants.
It is good to see a real part of Bali not at all designed for outsiders and with no hassling at all. If you don't have a guide or driver accompanying all prices may be a bit lower .
