Due to loud neighbours we changed our hotel last week. We had 3 nights left on our package (which we booked via a local travel agent). We werent able to get our money refunded however the hotel we moved from have offered us 3 nights free accommodation when we return next year. We were happy with that deal however in your friends circumstances I believe it will be cut your losses. Good luck!
