Everything she said I have to agree with. I have been to Thailand-(Phuket, Koh Samui, Krabi, Pattaya, Bangkok, etc) 3 times and while Thailand generally is a fantastic place I still prefer Bali ( Have been to bali 9 times) the shopping and restaurants are definitely better in bali, as for surfing can't answer that one as I don't surf. Must say though that the beaches are much nicer in Thailand. But having said that I do like Thailand and it is hard to compare as both places are so different and we are all different. Hubby hates Bali but loves Phuket, I am not bothered if I never went to Phuket again but would be devastated if I could not go to Bali. Just had friends who got back from Phuket last week, both hate Bali but loved Phuket. So I would suggest that as you have already been to Phuket to give Bali a go and see for yourself.
