is a voltage stabiliser, which regulates the incoming supply voltage from the electric company in Bali. because of higher factor of overloading which is very common here in Bali and especially when all in the neighbourhood start switching on electrical appliances at the same time of the day, the voltage drops and since the resistance cannot be varied the current goes up. this causes a lot of equipment to blow up. a 500 VA voltage regulator will be enough for a single home PC with a CRT monitor, or in your case before you connect to the power adaptor of your notebook computer. Stavol at this rating is not heavy at all, you can easy buy them in local hardware stores or even bigger size supermarkets.

besides of the voltage stabiliser/regulator, you also need a battery backup supply for desktop PC in case of power failure. this device is expensive, for a single PC UPS (uninterrupted power supply) the cheapest one is around Rp. 380,000. yes UPS is very heavy. for notebook computer users the batteries inside your machine add as UPS, provided they are in good working condition.
