Well where do you start...
Firstly we stayed at Le Meridien at Tanah Lot and that resort is great BUT far removed from the REAL Bali!
First day my 9yr old girl and me just swam and got a feel for the place, second day we hit Denpasar and went to a traditional market and was totally owed - we had a great taxi driver who guided us in the market (thank goodness)as this was huge and a bit scary for someone from the farmland of New Zealand - then onto Kuta which was equally as scary as on the beach we were swamped with traders as we had a great massage on the beach itself.
It was a bit of a worry as they are really pushy (it takes a few days to get used to them and then its no worries at all).
Next day we went with a guide and cycled down a lonely village road from Mt Batur which was fabulous as this got us into the hills and into the heart of Bali. The people were friendly, the school children swamped us as Mikayla is a blondy and they wanted to look and talk to her - then we got to the elephant park and had a ride - woohoo.
Next day we were booked to see an English teacher and visit a Bali school so his children and Mikayla could both experience the differnce of schools in different countries. She was amazed that they had fizzies and chocolate they could buy at there canteen as her primary does not have a canteen.
Next day it was off to Ubud and the monkeys - diffinately put this one on the calender - they are funny, naughty and nice!
Then it was home time - boo hoo.

My husband hated the smog and rubbish around but Mikayla and I would go back in a jiffy.
Whatch were you eat as more tourist areas are more expensive than they need to be, haggle hard as they are very good at getting THEIR price, TALK to your taxi drivers as there are so many good ones to use (ones with meters).

I should stop now or I will be here all bloody night.
Please post any questions as I would be more than happy to help :)
