At the end of the day you get what you pay for. The more luxurious the villa, the more expensive it is.
In my opinion you have to look at the whole package. If a villa offers you a car with driver, cook, maids, security, etc etc it has to be taken into account when you compare the price to a hotel. Also, you have to realise you are basically renting a whole house, with its own pool, privacy and amenities that come with it.
Some villas offer the full package with driver at your beck and call, all your washing done etc, and some offer part of this service. As I said above, you get what you pay for. You will be able to get a villa in the Seminyak area for under US$300 per night. But it will not be as good as the villa down the road at US$400 per night. It's all relative.
And don't forget, just because a villa is advertised at a higher price, doesn't mean they won't come down. The longer you stay, the cheaper they get. You'd be surprised how much they will come down if you are prepared to stay a bit longer. You can only ask, and they can only say no.
