and as for payment tell them they will get it when you arrive. If they don't like this idea go some where else to stay.
We booked for accomadation privately before and never had to pay up front as I tell them I will pay when I arrive in Bali.
No one has ever asked for my passport. Not even when I have checked in to the hotel.
