I stayed at Melia Benoa , August 2003 , and one day , while relaxing by the pool , the towel guy came over and asked my friend to rush up to his room , for "a very important reason".We were all very curious at first , and it turned out that my friend had carelessly emptied his pockets all over the room (although there was a safety box) , leaving Euros , Singapore dollars and Indonesian Rp everywhere...
The hotel stuff kindly advised him to use the safety box . I'm thinking that they could have easily grabbed more than a couple of notes of any currency without my friend ever knowing....but they didn't...and that's why I made sure we gave them a generous tip on departure!
