I spent a week there in April this year and found hassling from hawkers to be minimal, especially compared with Kuta, Bali. Mainly it's the usual "Transport?" and there were only 4 or 5 girls trying to sell sarongs, in a pleasant way. Kuta, Lombok is a spectacularly beautiful, rural place and I highly recommend it for a relaxing break from the faster pace of Bali. Superb, great value food & equally excellent views at Ashtari and the warngs are good & cheap.
We took the boat over never again) & flew back - just went to the airport & got on a flight 30 mins later - maybe just lucky.
