The Baturiti markets between Pacung and Bedugul are very 'local' and really worth a visit. We always buy some black and red rice here for our driver and for friends 'back south'.
If you are a coffee person you must go through Bedugul and do a very sharp left turn just up the hill past the monkeys an the side of the road. This will take you across the top of the twin lakes and then you will see a little cafe sitting up on the side of the hill on your right. This is Ngiring Ngewedang (don't try to say it just show your driver). They grow and process their own coffee and it is wonderful.
Come home via Jatiluwih which is to the right as you descend. You will see the best rice fields in all Bali.
Stop at Marga too and visit the Ngurah Rai war memorial fo a bit of Bali's more recent history.
